Miley Cyrus was once the centre stage of all the famous controversies a few years ago. However, the singer decided to reinvent herself and gives all of its credits to the infamous MTV VMAs incident back in 2013 that completely changed her. Miley herself says that she would not be the activist she is today if not for that particular incident.
The days of twerking, smoking weed and poking her nose in every controversial matter are long gone. Now, Miley Cyrus is an LGBT rights activist and a passionate feminist.
Goodbye to days of controversies
Miley has entirely embraced the Hannah Montana associated now. What more? She even performed some of her famous songs associated with the ‘Hannah Montana’ era a lot of times already.
In her appearance on The Late Late Show’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segment, she revealed the primary reason why she chose to stay away from controversies and instead reinvent herself.
When James Corden asked what changed her point of view regarding her life, she said:
[blockquote author=”Miley Cyrus” style=”2″]It’s funny you mention the VMAs. The first VMAs in 2013, with the twerking and Robin Thicke, has led me to being the activist that I am now. Because I realised that if so many people were going to talk about something that I did, or I do, then I should make it a good thing. Something that can change people’s lives rather than being a controversial conversation that does nothing but become a fun Halloween costume for people.[/blockquote]
Miley then went on to say how she fought hard to get out of her Hannah Montana image. However, now she has fully embraced it.
Miley Cyrus further added:
[blockquote author=”Miley Cyrus” style=”2″]There was something when I first stopped doing Hannah Montana when I was saying: “I’m not that, I want you to know who I really am.” But I love that that was me, and is me, and is still a part of me. I’ve allowed that childhood self to shine through a little bit more because I’m not trying to run away from it, and I’m down to embrace it. I think everyone should embrace who they used to be, because it’s made you who you are now.[/blockquote]
Keep going ahead, Miley! Love you!
